The Big Bad Wolf by Necrovivrea The Big Bad Wolf by Necrovivrea
Why is it always the weak, innocent ones that are pitied? Even underneath the most ferocious demeanor or hideous appearance there's the very same gift of life that every creature possesses. And yet, no tears will fall.

This is one of the pieces I have done in the early 2014, I think. I'm still quite proud of it to be honest, so I decided to upload it even if my drawing style has changed :) I have done it with only a pen refill because my actual pen broke. It was a pain but worth it.

This picture really does something with me... I remember when wolves startet to come back to the region where I was living as a kid and I was searching the newspapers like mad for anything about the couple that crossed our borders... when they said on the radio that the male one was "accidently" shot I really sat down and cried out of frustration... it's a pitty that there are still people believing in the tale of the bad wolf. --- Apart from that your picture is also technically very well done... I like the shading, the angle, the fur, the expression... it must have taken like forever to do all those little lining. :-D

Thank you very much :) It actually took 8 hours but I think it's due to the tool I used, not the difficulty of the picture. As for your story, the same thing is happening in Poland, where I live, right now. Some wolves has been crossing the border from Czech Republic but there's still small number of them (approximately seven hundred). Unfortunately, some of them have been killed of by highlanders even if the fine for killing one is quite high :(

Yay! Can't understand that... in germany hunting is quite restricted... and you learn to seperate a wolf from a stray dog (allhtough I do admit there tchekoslowakian wolf dogs do look like wolves from the distance, even for me.) BUT if one is allowed to hunt in a certain region he KNOWS that there are wolves... especially in a case where scientists are already on the case to study them... --- so no one can tell me the hunter who shot this wolf did it because "he has mistaken him for a stray dog" (what was the official phrase used by the media) ... I am not against all sorts of hunting... but this certain man was just an asshole who wanted a wolf as a trophy and that's all. *still angry*

Let's just hope that this asshole had more negative consequences of his crime, which went unheard by the media then. And really, even if he in fact had no idea what kind of animal he was shooting at, normal hunters shouldn't actually kill dogs. There should be a law that states that in such situation they are expected to use sedatives. It's not as if they don't have them on hand. My uncle was a hunter and he said that it's pretty normal to have them.

I don't know how that works for germany as it's really hard for a hunter to even get a gun... I think they have to have extra paperwork to be able to have sedatives... but at least for a forest ranger it should be no problem... and besides a stray dog in germany is normally tame, for we have a problem with stray cats, but not with stray dogs. Of course you have to be careful approaching to them, but shooting them as first act of action, without asking at least an animal shelter if a dog is missing in that area, is a little extreme to my eyes. o.O Yeah! good to know I am not the only one thinking this way. :-D

You're right. We too don't have many stray dogs in Poland and hunters are also working as forest rangers in most cases. It was just a poor excuse of an excuse xD And I'm glad too that I am not the only one :)
